Anyone know why....

i get "no satellite signal being received" on certain channels, Paramount +1, a few of the music channels and all of the "cough" Adult channels (not that i watch them! )

Is it only the signal strength that would affect this as it is about 20% strength and 80% quality

thanks

Question Strange

Hello,

In the distant days of Sky analogue I seem to remember that a few of my channels seemed to degrade over a period of time, stereo all of a sudden becoming mono, buzzing hissing and shadows, I called Sky to complain about this and was told that the problems could be happening for a number of reasons, fault in my equipment, atmospheric conditions or even tree branches…..I was then informed by the person on the c.s. desk that a fantastic new service was being launched called Sky Digital. This service would improve the quality of the signal I was receiving.
I remember thinking to myself at the time, I wonder if Sky has “fiddled” with the signal in order to sell me this new fantastic service. Now you can call me paranoid but with SkyHD just around the corner could history be repeating its self?........

It could also be that some of the channels broadcast at a lower bitrate then when the signal isn't too good it drops out. But then again, with SkyHD round the corner you could be correct

Channels are carried on transponders, those transponders have certain attributes that the tuner locks onto. If the tuner is having trouble with a certain attribute (H/V Polarity, Low/High Band) due to an internal fault, cable errors or LNB fault then you not be able to access those transponders and therefore lose some channels.

"no satellite signal being received"

Kingsd316, I had something similar happen recently.

Firstly, the secondary box (main one is the Sky+) practically had this message on ALL channels. Some picture would come through intermittently. Rang Sky, and after running through all the normal procedures, I was told I would need to replace the box for [approx.] £90Stg (I'm in Ireland!) PLUS engineering time!! Told them to Sod Off! Few days later - all channels are fine again. (The problem had been going on for about 2 weeks).

Now on my MAIN Sky+ box, nothing will record UNLESS I am watching the program at the same time!

If I try to record something on another channel, or set it to record a program, the message I get is....yes, you've guessed it...."no satellite signal being received". When I turn off the Record function - channel works perfectly!

Any Advice..!?!?
