Grainy picture still???Nows heres a silly question..maybe?

Ok--I still have a grainy picture from my SKY+ box fed into the second TV via TV link via DVD recorder, even though...as mentioned before perfect picture if I connect the RF straight into the TV or view via the sat channel on the DVD recorder--I have tried everything people so far have suggested and I am now clutching at Straws--now I know this may seem a ridiculous question but here goes.........

Is it possible to get a splitter connecter for the RF so I could direct feed the TV and then split off to feed the DVD if I should choose to record a terrestial channel at the same time as SKY+ and therefore leaving a SKY channel free for others to watch if they want. Then use the scart from the DVD recorder to view any such stuff I have on there.???

Do they do such RF splitters and if so Would this work????Told you it was a silly question

Yes, you can get such splitters both passive (which means that they can degrade the signal because they have no amplification inside), and amplified splitters. Take a look at the Maplin website under "Sound & Vision" >> "Aerials and Amplifiers".

However, I don't think this is your problem. It's much more likely to do with the RF channels that your Sky box and DVD recorder are using.

Rosie...Why start a new thread on an ongoing problem?
I think if I remember correctly you had a grainy Sky signal on the remote TV fed by a TVlink when it was plugged into your DVDR aerial input...but if plugged in directly to the TV it was okay.
Someone contributing to that thread asked you to try something and if I'm not mistaken you either haven't tried it...or if you did you didn't tell us the outcome.
You were asked to remove the TVlink plug from the DVDR aerial in and the cable from the DVDR RF out and just connect them together and come back with the result?

I only started a new thread because no-one had replied on this particular forum---only on the DVD recorder forum!!!I felt maybe some people wouldn't neccesarily go on there or vice versa.

Anyway---I did explain (on the DVD Forum)that I had more or less eliminated the cables being at fault as I rplaced it with a monster RF cable off our other main room Tv( a Plasma which I know are OK) and the result was the same ---so surely that proved a point...the point of connecting the cables was to check if there was a fault in the cables..yes??? Well if I tried with Ok cables and the result was the same surely thats the answer you were asking.

No, it sounds to me like they were trying to eliminate the DVD recorder from the equation by by-passing it (I wasn't aware of the original thread). Presumably the idea was to ascertain if the RF from the DVD recorder was interfering with the RF from the Sky box. Choosing the RF channels for Sky boxes and DVD recorders isn't easy - people think that all they need to do is to pick an unused channel, but unfortunately it's not as easy as that.

To change the RF channel on the Sky box, you need to press the following buttons on the remote in fairly quick succession......

Services, 4, 0, 1, Select

This takes you into the engineers menu. One of the options in there is to change the RF output channel. Don't change any of the other settings.

Is that it?--if I change the RF output on the Sky I can leave the DVD as it is?--because I have tried changing that and I tell you Icouldn't make head nor tale of the DVD menu--There is no where that gives me that option--or maybe its me being thick----This is driving me nuts and I won't rest till I have a good picture.
