Take it back...it's obviously faulty.

I think your screwed unless you can find the guy that sold you it.Either that or take it to bits and see if your getting a voltage out of the power supply and try and fix it.

The box should format its own drive, and the box power lights should come on, even if the drive is not formatted. No lights = serious problem with the box - take it back for a refund.

Question hmmm.strange

its quite strange because when i opened it and took the fuse out nothing happened when i plugged it in but when the fuse was in it gave a little shock everytime i plugged it in.is it the fuse? or do you think its the cables that connect from the power supply to the hd to the motherboard?

I suggest you screw this together pronto before you seriously injure or kill yourself... there are high voltages present in this digibox and you obviously haven't a clue what you're doing.
Other than replacing/upgrading the HDD there is nothing an amateur can "repair" in these digiboxes.

Put it down to experience and move on ...... those aren't the droids you're looking for.

azz4eva,

You had better put this box back together without touching its insides. It is possible to get an electric shock, possibly fatal, even when everything is unplugged. This is because many components inside can still hold an electrical charge for hours after being turned off.

As these types of boxes are actually computers, there is nothing that can be repaired. If the hard disk is faulty, then that could be replaced. However, it sounds like the box itself is faulty.

If you can, take it back – you do have some rights.

Regards,

Carl

You could get a Sky+ box from Sky!

That is, unless, you cannot for some reason.

Carl

I suppose you're aware that the recording features of Sky+ will only work if you talk to Sky (and pay them £10 a month) ?
