Post ITV Sport picture quality

I have NTL digital and have subscribed to SP 1/3 and ITV Sport, I also paid for the PPV game Chelsea v Newcastle, and throughout the whole of the PPV game the picture quality was dreadful, it looked like the players were playing in heavy rain!! I have also just noticed it doing this right now on ITV Sport for the Hartlepool v Forest game (although this time the problem seems to be intermitent.) However, on SP 1/3 the picture for a footy game is perfect. Is this just me, or has anyone else noticed it? I need to know whether to complain to NTL and ask for some sort of refund. I assume its not a t.v. problem as SP 1/3 is fine.

Help.

ITV 1 digitals The Premiership is poor as well.Big blocky pixels and a coloured halo around the players.

Aside from the picture quality the whole ITV presentation with Smarmy Des was just awful.
What a load of garbage.
Like most of you, I grew up on Match of the Day and all I can say is BRING IT BACK-NOW.

It is poor picture quality and must be below minimum broadcast standards.

I'm upgrading to NTL Digital Plus to see if it improves, wish me luck.

I don't think The Premiership is that bad overall,a good start.

Keith,

Your problem is effecting all the ITV sport broadcasts via cable. It's particularly noticeable when watching fast moving action, like the football. I believe the problem has emerged because ITV are degrading the signal so ITV digital can cope with terrestrial aerial receivers.

Having taken the signal quality down they are passing this to ntl and as the cable capacity is far superior, you see a poor picture.

I believe ntl have demanded ITV take the signal back up but it's going to be a couple of weeks before the work is completed.

Interesting.

I mailed NTL about it (complaining) and they said they would get back to me, which was 2 weeks ago, and they still haven't, nevermind.

I would have thought that NTL would get the pure feed from ITV, before ITV degrade it, but what you say goes against that. Is this couple of weeks you mention a real possibility or just hoping?

On a similar note - I've got NTL Dig and watched the England game on BBC1 last night.

At the moment I've also got my mate's ITVdigital box while he's on holiday. The picture through NTL was perfect and no problem with my 100hz TV, but the same picture through ITVdig's BBC1 was dreadful and really showed up the jerky action that puts so many off 100hz sets.
