That sound good news mate. Shame there's no EPG on that so I can see when it's on again.

it wasn't that good ... actually it was far better because I've just checked out the 2 bit a second thing that's on now ... just sit further back.... [in the garden-... ]

Sherlock 2 was more like an analogue screener - ie: filmed in the cinema with an analogue camcorder & it's basic mic... lovely A & V..

the novelty being it's 2 months old - how can they just do that ?- depends what country it is but I'd have thought the sat tx co & the other channels would be the 1st to say something even before the studios..

got it in Leeds on a 1.1 a few days ago .. seems to go up country quite well ... not sure if you could drop to say a td88 [90] there.. they do quite well going up through Manchester & you might benefit from less city noise there.

They seem to be repeating them in the mornings ... also there's no advert breaks, instead use on screen scrolling ads]..

Anyone know where it's from apart from some Arab speaking country....

you can chop them off with screen settings .. ...

..... it's just 5555 TV Movies & one called email@tv Movies- same people I think..... you certainly know you're not in the UK..

This isn't like the new blockbusters Panorama Action or the MBC movie channels can show or Fox Movies etc.. -[& they pay for their's ]

this is coming from somewhere that has a different set of rules..

there's another on now..

Casey Jones... release date .. Sept 2011 - 5 months old

Most are still in Cinemas

All free to air..

We think 5555 TV Movies is just transmitting any movies including new ones & blatant screeners of various PQ without paying anyone - it is most likely coming from a country that hasn't got copyright/ patent laws for foreign material... like Iran- their copyright only covers their own [with prison] but not anything from outside Iran.

Actually building a 7w UK coverage map atm- mostly from our installs - Birmingham minimum is about a quality 85cm [85cm surface area- ignore advertised sizes just add width + height / 2] but that can be affected by local [city] noise/ interference & whether it's Birmingham North/ Central/ South.
East or west of Birmingham & you are in a more rural area - that is usually better than in a city ... just a street lamp in the wrong place or too many wireless devices can make it much harder but it seems pretty persistent.

Next is margin - a decent 85cm [& sensitive receiver/lnb etc..] will get the channels but lose them in rain -a bigger dish [1m+] will keep them longer & also get more movie channels at 7w on Nilesat 101/2 -such as the other MBC movie channels [easier on 26e]

so 85cm - 1.1m+ on area unless there's an interference issue... an un-bent td88/ orbital 1m or td 1.1 or you could go bigger

i've heard a lot of good things about the inverto black lnb,
are they really that good?

As I said - on the channel that is showing all these movies that are still in the cinema [55555 TV Movies] the picture quality [PQ] varies - I'd say from acceptable to awful [like screeners - various picture / sound quality from camcorders used in a cinema].... All the others like Panorama Action/ Fox Movies etc.. are OK

Sounds like the dish & LNB & with experience ... so many 'other issues' - with a decent motorised 90 you should be getting these there [installed enough around there to know 100%] - & especially 26e - unless you have an interference problem & that can often be got round with a good survey & install, otherwise, like so many that have a dish of a certain size- 80 90 1m 1.1... it's only working like a smaller dish or often worse snr wise.

Do you have any experience of 7W in Merseyside? Struggling with 1.1m Triax, no signal on these frequencies - just wondering if it`s worth trying to tweak dish or if I`m wasting my time.

Well, we've installed enough motorised 90s/ 1ms / 1.1s around there & the Wirral/ N Wales/ N/W Cheshire & further north etc... that a 'properly' installed 1.1 should really deliver 500+ channels & some [small] rain margin... unless you are in a black spot we don't know about yet &/or have a local interference problem [just takes one poor stage of an install &/or a street lamp in the wrong place].

So yes, you should & well worth the effort & the only reason on the arc to have a 1.1 .... loads of fta movies, not just the iffy 55555 TV movies channel & the 2 month old screeners they put on & JSC's got more on the way including more HD. [wonder if 55555 company will bung on FTA live EPL next]

But this isn't 7w now really .. it's more the new stronger 7.3w position Atlantic Bird 7 [aka Nilesat 104] which is ....

a) about 20%- 25% stronger than Nilesat 101/102 stronger verticals 'were' before AB7 lit up and

b) has far more channels right through KU band & both pol's of about that power [+/- 10%] than 101/102 which had progressively harder tps through vertical & then horizontal and

c) seems to carry up country far better than Nilesat 101/102 used to & certainly doesn't drop off the same at Mid/ N Manchester like they did.

Nilesat 101/102 strong verticals have gone harder with what looks like bleed over interference from the more powerful Atlantic Bird 7 .. mainly it's the MBC movie channels on there now after Dubai's channels moved to 201, but they are on the easier 26e BADR4.

Thanks, my install isn`t the best (scaffold pole in bin full of concrete ), but gets everything I need on all birds (except 7w, which I thought was impossible anyway prior to this info) so never really been bothered about making it any better - this is the incentive I need to get myself in gear and do the install properly.

I hope you can, we get asked to sort a lot of motorised installs out & carry gear just to sort almost anything out but you often see more than 2 or 3 classic issues & far too often that many you just want to bin it all & start again

but if you are getting good numbers/ margins on the other weak sat/s ..that would be a good start .... most other sats will just blow in on a 1.1

Just did one just south of you that was all customer bought 'duff stuff' [supplied by a well known company] - you wouldn't believe what an absolute pile of crap I got Nilesat on

costs more to try to sort cr@p though

Area:
Anglesey nr Cemaes.

System:
Technomate 80cm Motorised System with Inverto Black LNB
Technomate TM5402 with USALS degrees set to 7.3W for Atlantic Bird.

10853 H 27500 - No Lock
12169 V 27500 - 50% Signal Quality
12245 V 27500 - 51% Signal Quality
12341 H 27500 - 50% Signal Quality
12437 V 27500 - 51% Signal Quality(Tm5402) - 5.1db Quality(FS1 Meter)

I personally have not installed one as far as your self but i did one in Preston lancs for a customer who was upgrading from the Triax 78cm to a triax 1.1m and his signal quality from the box where very similar to yours and on the 1.1m went to around 85%.

I would imagine you should see similar or there abouts figures from your location. Again dependant on interference issues if any.

Thanks for the report -

We have installed on Anglesey & enough installs along the Dee/ N Wales to get a reasonably good prediction... it really depends what make/ model of 80 it is - how big it is on the face - rim to rim excluding any raised rim area & if it's 100% true x no outage & local noise -

N Wales does well generally due to low noise & although all very low, I think you have done well on an 80 ... most are only c. 75cm on area ... a decent td88 [not bent in transit] is 90 on area & should get c. 500+ channels & a bit of margin on the stronger ones unless you have a local noise issue- I think Tops Movies will still be close- a good low tp measure - hence the thread title.
