Sorry if i explained it wrong i want to rename Satellites in green button not the Bouquets.
If you go on the dreambox Channel seletion you have Satellittes,Provider,Favourites,All.The ones i want to edit are the Satellites .

i got dm8000 with dark hole image quick question not sure if my box is faulty or its a bad image. When i pause a channel and switch channel the pause doesnt stick and no recording is done.

Lost me here a bit, you saying you pause say BBC the change channel and watch another, then go back to BBc and it's no longer paused?
Where's recording come into it?

Didn't even know this would be possible.

I use DreamElite on my DM8000, works great, pause and record isn't a problem at all

you will have to alter the name in the satellites.xml file located in var/tuxbox (open with an xml editor is best e.g. crimson editor etc)

Yes thats what i mean no recording, just pausing. I dont understand why this is not possible. If you pause something it should start recording and i should be able to go back to it.

Seriously confused me, if you press pause it will pause, if you press red
square bottom right on remote it will record. Does atleast on my DM.

Since i have had this box i have never had a full day of watching a film or something.I have to do something to the box,anyway i hope this is the last weekend of messing with it looking forward to the footie.Only thing left is setting my Bouquet for all sports channels.

Do you mean 'timeshift' ? There's a plugin called 'permanent timeshift' that you can use.You need somewhere to record to mind

Never had a sat before, been in IT for around 8 years so hopefully i'll manage something, so i'm after best practice guide to working and understanding the DM800 box and the whole satellite tv stuff (the idiots guide..., Basics, FAQ)

The guy is coming to set it all up Friday.. the package does not come with and HardDisk, can I buy a normal SATA disk or does it have to be special from dreambox as it seems to be used by most of the users to record?

Also does the OS run on some small memory and when you make changes with dreamedit - what files are these and on which disk are they stored..

Is it worth going for the 8000 instead, might have to wait longer and cost me double??

got it now, when I scanned s2 it jusmped from 3/4 to 9/10. Put back to 3/4 and found it ok. Nothing showing yet though, just countdown timer.

On the Dm 800 you have LNB in and LNB out,If i connect a cable to LNB out and run it to my bedroom and get another Sat box will that work?I dont mind if one box will be in standby.I will be using a motorised dish.The main thing i want to avoid is running another cable from the dish.
