Scart signal receivers?

Hi,
I was thinking of getting one the scart satellite signal receivers/senders that I've seen advertised.
Can anyone tell me if they are any good?
I need something to get a decent picture on my bedroom TV and the terestrial signal is weak, even with signal booster.
Thanks.

Videosenders are permitted by law to transmit only an extremely weak signal in order to minimise the risk of interference to neighbours' equipment.

That being the case, any aluminium foil (common on plasterboard walls & ceilings) or thick stone walls will cause significant signal attenuation. In addition, the signal is easily reflected by solid objects, causing "null reception" points around the house.

Human bodies can also affect the signal so the picture may fluctuate as people move around.

Careful placement of transmitter and receiver can sometimes mitigate such problems but there can be no guarantee of perfect reception. You simply have to try it for yourself.

Thanks Martin,
I live in a old victorian place with thick walls, this probably wont be an effective solution.
Could you recommend any alternative solution.
Perhaps a signal booster?
Regards,
Richard.

I would recommend a length of decent coaxial cable from the satellite TV receiver to your TV.

I don't see why not. As MP says the way to find out is to try it - they're quite cheap.

I think Argos will give a refund if it doesn't work.
