using existing coax cabling for sky+hd

Hi,

i have coax already channelled into wall in my house. I'm thinking of getting sky+hd.

I want to reuse the coax that is already installed but i'm concerned the HD signal may suffer because the coax isn't high enough quality.

Does anybody know whether I need to be concerned about this i.e. is special grade coax needed for sky+hd installations?

Thanks,

Andy

No different than for Sky SD; if it's satellite grade cable it's good for either.

Chris Muriel, in Nashville this week but normally.....

If the coax has a foil screen under the braided copper (silver or gold coloured) it's sat grade and should be fine. If there's no foil screen it's not sat grade but depending on length and proximity to interference sources might still be OK (It's still 75ohm coax)

There's no special requirement for HD, it's the same signal frequency band it just uses more of the bandwidth due to the extra information
