Multiroom, HDTV

Hi there
Can anyone cofirm and add to what I think I know. I want to have mutiroom HDTV and have installed HDMI 1.3b to 4 separate locations in the house. I understand the video and audio signal from a HDTV tuner (locked away in a server room is carried down the HDMI cable, and is fed into either the display (or a reciever which directs video to display and sound to surround speakers). Am i right?
Victor

You need to see the spec for the box concerned

For example I believe sky hd boxes only carry stereo audio through the hdmi cable and that a separate cable (Toslink or similar) is required for 5.1 audio

Dolby Digital 5.1 or 2.0 (for HD channels) is carried on the hdmi output of a Foxsat-hdr. It's not on a Sky HD box though.

Re: Multiroom, HDTV

thnx. one other point. is it possible to control the humax foxsat HR remotely from each room in the house if it is locked away in a server room (I am thinking of having logitech universal remotes in each room)? I have already installed cat 6 and 7 cabling to each room (from the server room) so one can be used for IR control. I am also considering wireless remote control but have yet to look into it - any thoughts?
