Exclamation Tm 6900

Hi Folks, first post on this forum so here's hoping!

Anyway looking to buy a Technomate TM 6900 (unless anyone can suggest better for the same budget) requirements are twin tuner, PVR facility and of course HD, Freeview is a bonus.

Couple of things I would like to know before taking the plunge:

Twin tuners - do they need two seperate feeds?

would I be able to use a twin LNB (for 19 and 13 degres) and if so would it be one feed to each tuner or what?

Is the PVR like a BT vision box i.e. can record two programmes at a time or watch one record another?

if possible can a Blue Ray player be hooked up and the output then recorded?

Sorry if any of this sounds dumb, and thank you in advance

Graham

Know next to nothing about this - but I think you've misread the spec. It has two tuners but one is satellite & one terrestrial digital, & I doubt very much if they can operate at the same time. So you won't be able to watch one channel while recording another; though you'll probably be able to record one while playing back a recording. Nor, would I have thought you can use it to record from an outside source such as a Blu-ray player.

Not sure I fully understand your question about connecting LNBs for different satellites, but as there's only one satellite tuner you'll be limited to one connection at a time.

Hi Geoffbob you are correct the 6900 can only record 1 channel at a time and can replay an existing recording while recording, but it can use multiple lnb's or a motorised dish as the sat tuner supports diseqc switching.

Thanks Graham - though personally I prefer to stick to old fangled PVRs with a built in HDD & less technical jargon in the spec!

However, the OP, quadruple-A Graaaham, may be very interested in the TM-7100. which the Technomate Newsletter says is being launched on 1 November - that does have twin satellite HD tuners, so should do everything he wants - though at what price, one wonders.

Couldn't agree more, thats why I use a Foxsat-hdr and as to the price twin tuner generic fta boxes in my experience come in the £400.00 plus price bracket
