Smile Humax Foxsat HDR Motor driven system.

Hi All,
I have found some of the info I need on here, but not all, maybe someone can help?
I currently have a motorised system, with a Phoenix Apollo box, which has just started to muck around.
I am considering replacing it with the Humax HDR box.
This system will be used as an extra to Sky plus, and I already have a quad LNB fitted, the third port supplying the Phoenix, and one spare.
I notice some comments that if you use the motor system menu, that it goes to single tuner mode. That is not a problem for me, as it will be an extra recorder. I this case, I presume, that using the current single feed cable will allow me to watch 1 channel, or record one channel, not both, and allow me to drive the motor?
It will be used predominantly for FTA German channels on 19.2E, for Skiing and DTM racing, but also sports on uk channels on BBC etc.
I take it that recording from other satellite channels is fairly straightforward?
I have noticed some comments that when you use in non-freesat mode that your series link disappears, that doesn't worry me, as I use Sky for that, but does it erase what you have already recorded on the hard drive? There is still more!!
With the apollo box, I use the RF output to connect to the Sky box, and then feed a TV in another room using RF,obviously not for HD.
I notice the Humax only has an LNB out, will I be able to continue my system with some sort of patch lead?
Now down to HD; There are some Euro satellites that list HD channels under FTA, will I be able to see any of them?
Lastly (thanks I hear!) I understand that some people buy a CAM to use in the CI, and then use their Sky card to view C4 HD, does this really work?
It isn't hassle to change the card over, as the boxes reside together, and usage would be on an occasional basis, so 90% of the time, the Sky card would remain in the correct box.
Thanks hugely for reading through all this, and hope someone can help?!

This may help (It's for the HD) but it's the same as the hdr.

foxsat - Setting up DiSEqC

Currently adding/moving/deleting channels deletes freesat recording reservations, viewing/recording does not, it does not affect existing recordings in any way. This is fixed in the shortly to be available firmware upgrade.

If you connect the tuner 1 out to tuner 2 in with a short loop you get two tuner recording capability certainly in freesat mode, I have not tried this with a diseqc switch but can't imagine it's going to be any different. Essentially tuner 2 gets any channels sharing the same frequency band and polarity as tuner 1 is using. In the special case where both recordings are made from the same transponder then a single tuner only is used so tuner 2 can also watch any channels sharing the same frequency and polarisation. If the two channels are on different transponders you can watch any channel sharing the same transponder as either recording.

There's no timer recording start in non-freesat but you can specify a recording duration after you start recording.

To retain the rf transmission to the remote TV simply connect an external modulator to the hdr. This will also work for HD material (clearly not in HD) as the hdr outputs composite downscaled SD to the analogue outputs.

A dragon cam works with the old sky cards but not the new ones AFAIK.

You can view any fta channels (HD or SD) you can point your dish at as the hdr has dvb-s2 tuners.

Re: Humax Foxsat HDR Motor driven system.

Hi,
Many thanks for this, much appreciated.
With regard to the RF output from the sky box, would I use the lnb out from the Humax, and then connect it to a lead with a different plug,e.g RF?
I know a little, but not a lot!!

No an external modulator connects either to the 3 rca phono outputs, Red and White Audio and Yellow video or the vcr scart both carry the same output signals

One more note just thought of, how does this affect the 'magic eye' for Sky?

you need a power supply for the eye and a box to convert the remote control signal down the coax to IR back at the hdr location

Re: Humax Foxsat HDR Motor driven system.

Hi,
Das Erste is one of my most watched channels, so an HD version would be spot on.
Thanks for all your help on this subject, really makes Forums like this spot on.
You are highly recommended, thanks again.
