TomTom Green charging light on but wont switch on

I have a TomTom one which does not switch on, you see the green charging light but otherwise dead. Tried resetting without any luck. If I leave it for a few days it will then work fine for weeks and then the problem will return. This green light problem would appear to be quite common across a number of TomTom models, does anybody know the cause?

Re: TomTom Green charging light on but wont switch on

My TomTom One does this now with the new software.

Remove (or just unclick) the SD card from its socket. Then try to turn it on. Then plug the SD card back in. If it didn't turn on before, it should do now.

I have to do that on battery power always. If it's plugged in before I try to switch it on, it works fine. No idea why.

This would appear to be a very common fault. Mine is over 12 months old so no comeback on TOMTOM. I'm sure with the right knowledge it could be fixed.

Re: TomTom Green charging light on but wont switch on

My Tom Tom One Version 2 with the SD Card had exactly the same problem as Ben.baylis. Take out the SD card, put it back in and then it will switch on. The interesting thing is that if I put any other SD card in rather than the TomTom one, it would always switch on!! I found that I had to reset but not just for 15 seconds, more like 25 seconds. Then it has kept working as it should. Why? Who knows? When I spoke to Tom Tom support they said they had not heard of the problem!!
