Tom Tom One or One XL

We already have a built-in satnav on one of our cars. We now wish to purchase another that my daughter can use in her car and also on our second car. We need sometheing basic and a friend has a Tom Tom One that would suit. However I now find that the One no longer has an SD card slot for updating with say Europe maps; a retrograde step but not essential but useful! The One XL is rather more bulky but has the SD card slot so should be more future-proof. Has anyone bought the latest One and regretted not buying the XL?

Looking at Amazoon reviews, with regard to the XL I read that the mount as supplied is very weak. Also I note that TOM Tom's customer service is pretty well non-existent.

Any advice?

I bought the one, it can be updated to any map you choose, but instead of through the SD card you plug the whole unit in via USB and use the TomTom Home software. So the only problem is the size of memory, which wouldnt be able to hold all of europe in one go.

Re: Tom Tom One or One XL

kdc - Thanks for your response. I read another thread on this forum where the demise of the SD card on the V3 version of Tom Tom One was mentioned. I did follow the advice there and I have placed an order with Amazon for a Tom Tom V2 that does come with an SD card, so I get the smaller unit but with the ability to expand if necessary!
