Garmin 200 Widescreen or Tomtom XL Widescreen

For a relative. Both same price

Tom tom XL (widescreen)
or
Garmin 200w (widescreen)

Anyone know which is considered the best?. Visually has the easiest to follow maps?

TIA

The Garmin 200W seems to have an issue with it falling off the windscreen. Have a look at the user reports from Amazon

Didn't see this. Seems to get good reviews.

Has no one else compared these 2 models?

Re: Garmin 200 Widescreen or Tomtom XL Widescreen

I don’t want to leave the bracket attached to the windscreen when parked in some dodgy areas as this would indicate that their could be a satnav in the glove box. On the Gramin to remove the bracket you just flick the lever and remove the suction cup. The tomtom is just a suction cup so appears to be harder to remove.

Looking in Halfords where all these models are powered up the salesman made a good point. The text and maps on the widescreen versions are the same size as the non widescreen models. All you get extra is additional roads displayed on either side which have no relevance to your journey as you are going up the map and not across it.
