help for sony sat nav

Hi all,
Newbie's first post, really would appreciate some help. Bought a sony nv-u52 from e-bay.
Everything seems to be ok apart from no sound, a route is calculated and visually I can follow the directions but no turn by turn voice guidance. I've tried all the menus and nothing helps.
As far as i'm aware the volume is turned on. I know the speaker is working as there is a melody at power on and sound when pressing icons.
Is there something in the menus i'm missing or something I have to set-up first
Please any suggestions before I ring Sony support (i've heard their not much help!!!)

My sat nav is NOT the same as yours but in the menu there is a box you can tick that will turn off the sound to the speaker, maybe it is turned off on yours, hope this helps.

Thanks for reply, used it today and it seems to be working ok now, gremlins maybe!!!
