Need new Satnav

I have just sold my 4 year old parkardbell gps400 and i'm looking to get something more up to date.
I'm now unsure what to go for ,my max budget is £120.
I was thinking tomtom one v3 but the idea of internal memory only is putting me off a little, how many updates will it take before its full.
What else could i be looking at ,i only sold the gps400 due to the total lack of support.
Thanks.

Re: Need new Satnav

Inside Auto Express dated 20-26 Feb they have reviewed 16 Sat Navs. The Garmin Nuvi 200 at £129 came third overall and first at that price point. The widescreen version costs only £10 more.

The garmin seems a good buy for the money but i'm unsure about the support.

Re: Need new Satnav

I am going through the same heartache!

I intend to use the device in the UK and Ireland BUT would like to be able to load some US maps for my hols in the summer.

I guess that the V3 512M internal ONLY memory will not be big enough for me, and no SD card option.

Can anyone comment on the best sub £120 sat nav with Sd card for extra maps.

Re: Need new Satnav

Halfords are doing an offer of the Garmin Nuvi 200 gift pack which comes with a free leather case for £119.99. The normal price is £129 without a case. The Garmin has a Sd card slot http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...tegoryrn_80866

Re: Need new Satnav

But the Garmin maps seem to cost a fortune...

I only want florida, but need to but all of North america >$130, a florida tom tom map costs around $30

Can you get more localised maps for the Garmin?

Incidentally Amazon are selling Nuvi250's for about the same priceas the 200 in halfords, albeit without the travel case.

Re: Need new Satnav

I have just got my tomtom one and can highly recommend it , i have done all the updates online using the software from the totmtom.
After the update it manages to lock onto satellites within 15 seconds inside the house, very simple to use ,much better than i was expecting.
For anyone wanting to know it uses 188mb of the 512mb.
Vogon64 ,why not try and get tomtom one version one or two with the sd card slot.

Re: Need new Satnav

I suppose I am a bit of a snob, and even when trying to buy the "cheapest" sat nav I still want the latest version of it...

Can anyone tell me what was added/removed (other than the SD card slot) when tomtom one went from V2 to V3.

So I can figure out what I am missing out on if I buy a V2.

Thanks
Mark

Can anyone tell me what the achievable capacity of the V3 512mb really is.

How much of the memory is reserved, or needed by other things such as routes, way points, POI (eg speed cameras) etc. etc.

If I see an additional map quoted at 237mb will it fit on the V3 UK and ROI without having to remove the UK and ROI maps.
