which tomtom?
I'm after a satnav system and have liked the look of the TomTom's (never had one before but the layout and style appeals!). Mostly it will be used around the UK but with the occasional trip into Europe. However this summer I'm off to USA and would like to use it over there as well.
The cheapest I've seen the 910 is £315.00, which has the USA maps preinstalled. The TT One Europe with adding maps for USA is going to set me back £270.00.
Is the 910 worth paying the extra £45 or should I go for the One Europe? (or is there a better option????)
Cheers for any help

Re: which tomtom?
I like the 910 because it has computer voices that allow text to speech. This gives you far more information about the road ahead as your travelling. Having experience of the 510 too I can categorically say the 910 is much better in this respect. Additionally it has full european and USA maping plus a nice 20GB drive
EDIT: If you decide to go for a lower model than the 910 my 510 is for sale

Re: which tomtom?
Thanks for your help guys. I must admit the speech to text sounds good, plus the extra Gb harddisk is appealing. Is the sound output any good if you play mp3's? Do all of the TomTom devices have the same amount of points of interest? (sounds like a dumb question and possibly is, so I apologise for my complete 'noddy' knowledge )

Re: which tomtom?
Your answer, itcosthowmuch, to mp3's is that they will sound as good as the little internal speaker allows which while is very good for voices it will sound small and weak for mp3's although volume is quite generous which will give it some sense of beef. The speaker is only about 1" in diameter.
The unit is however capable of bluetooth where you can via an extra kit harmonise it with your car radio to output via the car speakers.
AFAIK all TomTom 10 series have the same poi's but you can always download more if you require.
BTW: It's text to speech not vice versa

Re: which tomtom?
Tom Tom are launching an FM transmitter, like the old iTrip, as they can now be used legally in this country. That way you can play the mp3's on the 910, plus get all the voice commands, through your car stereo:

£230 it's just a few months old with half a dozen uses. As new. It's in the nonav ads section.

That's brill. Do you think they might supply this version free under the new mount replacement programme?

That's what's swung me to the 910. I was happy getting the 510, but for an extra £80 or so, plus the FM mount, I need never take a CD in the car again.
