Brand New TomTom 910 Virus and Lose Charger
I bought a brand new tomtom 910 from PC world on 29th Dec 06 and recieved it on the 3rd Jan. However, i then flew out on holiday and returned last thursday.
I just opened the tomtom 910 now and noticed when pluging the home charger into the usb holder, the plug in very lose. As soon as i just touch it, it comes out and stops charging and i have to push it in again.
Second thing VIRUS! The two suspect files my computer flagged up were
Copy.exe Trojan horse Generic.VDT
Host.exe Trojan horse Generic.VDT
Surely this is not normal?

Re: Brand New TomTom 910 Virus and Lose Charger
I don't know about the loose charger, as I have an original GO, not a 910.
As for the viruses, remember this is NOT a Windows PC, so expecting a Windows virus checker to work on it is not on. The file extensions used, and the files themselves, mean nothing to Windows (or even worse, mean the wrong thing) so I wouldn't be too worried.

Re: Brand New TomTom 910 Virus and Lose Charger
Just plugged the car charger in and it's nice and tight. Just packed it back up and it's going back tommorow for an exchange.

Re: Brand New TomTom 910 Virus and Lose Charger
Hi,
If you find the home dock power input is very loose and/or the windscreen mount droops, you can contact TomTom and they will send you out some new versions free of charge. Had the same problem on my 510.

Yes, my home dock power input is very loose. I'm just going to take it back to PC world for an exchange.

Re: Brand New TomTom 910 Virus and Lose Charger
............... and guess what. No store has them in stock. No wonder considering i paid £272 for it all sold out.
Online sales are sending lables out from returning it back for a exchange if in stock as it's coming from a different warehouse or a refund which i dont really want. :-(

I've got a 910 and have experienced the exact same things as yourself.
I did a full system virus check on my laptop the other day it came up with the same two files infected... I just let the virus software clean them up.
As for the home dock loose connection, I've experienced that too. I just pop the 910 onto the windscreen dock and charge it via that with no problems.

Like I said, I'd be careful of letting a Windows virus checker try and clean files on a non-Windows OS

The two so called 'infected' files are actually on my laptop which obviously is Windows based... it wasn't a virus check of the actual tomtom 910. The files in question are in the 'documents and settings' folder and I imagine they get put there when TomTom Home is installed.

Re: Brand New TomTom 910 Virus and Lose Charger
I'm now really happy with my TomTom 910.
The virus seems not to have caused any issue and TomTom also sent me out a New Home Dock replacment which is now perfect!
They also gave me a New Winscreen Mount FOC....Nice for use in another car or as spare.

Re: Brand New TomTom 910 Virus and Lose Charger
If we are patting TomTom on the back then let me throw in my 2p.....
I decided to hard wire my TomTom in to the car electrics as I hate having leads flapping round the dash. Snipped the end and spliced the wiring in only for it to go pop when I plugged it in. Spoke to a nice lady and explained what I had done, the TT doesn't run on 12V, there is a transformer on the snipped end (now in the passenger foot well). She suggested I return it and they would take a look. I did it all on line, they orgainsed pick up etc and then couriered it back free of charge. I was amased. I was waiting for a phone call requesting payment but it never came.
Brilliant service!!

I have the exact same problems with the loose connection and the *ahem* droppy dock. Thanks for the advice mate.
I also had a problem this evening where I inadvertantly clicked the "release clip" on the on screen image when viewing my 910 through the PC. My 910 suddenly went to a blank, lit screen and froze.
I reset it and it seemed to do the job but then couldn't get it to do anything else. Repeated this about 3 times and then decided to fully charge it to see if that cleared it. (I believe that's a 2 hour job? Can find any reference to that in the blurb. )
Just wondered if anyone else had had similar problems?

Nope, not all at on mine touch wood! Contact TomTom asap and speak to them. They may even replace it for you.
Mine only crashed once removing it out of the home dock and had to reset it. Never happened agained so far. :-)
