Exclamation Sat Nav price fixing

I have been out today to check where the best buy would be for a sat nav unit. I looked at several types and models in Halfords, Currys, PC World and Staples as these are the only local sources of the units.
All had exactly the same price for every model across the Tomtom, Garmin, Navsat and other makes.
This suggests price fixing to me.
I know that I can find cheaper on the internet and have bought many things this way, but with a sat nav unit I prefer somewhere local to return it to if there any problems.
Has any other member found the same situation?:

Re: Sat Nav price fixing

A lot of companies are owned by each other. Certainly Currys/Dixons/Link etc are. They also try and match each other's pricing.

Thanks Repster for the comment.
I would have thought that there would have been a bit more competition but even looking on Ebay, the 'Buy it now' prices are all up in the same region. Looking in the USA, Germany and France, the price structures are all very similar with no advantage by shopping anywhere. How long do you think that I have to wait before a bit more competition shows in the market place?.

Re: Sat Nav price fixing

It was only a couple of years ago that you'd have paid £600-700 for a similar unit, so I think current prices are pretty good. If you look around, you can also get the new TT1 for around £160. Excellent VFM!

Re: Sat Nav price fixing

Thanks for the comment Tman.
I can certainly get the TT1 UK for less than £160 but I am looking for the TT1 Europe V2. If you know where I can get it for less than £160 I would appreciate your input.
Thanks
