Am i being conned? Smartnav sale

I am wanting to sell a
SmartNav with TouchScreen by Traffic Master

I know nothing about them and am worried that i could give out info which could be used elsewhere

the buyer is wanting URN or Sim numbers from me, Should i give these out?

My units are brand new and boxed and have these numbers with a bar code, but is it wise to just hand them out so they can be "checked out" as the buyer is demanding.....

also is £450 a fair price for both the unit and the touchscreen?? thanks for any help!

Re: Am i being conned? Smartnav sale

I dont think I would want to give any of these details out over the internet like this. I dont know what use they would be to the buyer or if there would be a problem if you did so. But I would want to know why the buyer wants them. Seems a bit suspicious to me.

And, £450 sounds reasonable to me.

Re: Am i being conned? Smartnav sale

HI There
Thanks! He says he wants to "check them with trafficmaster" to make sure they haven't been registered

what i wasn't sure about was that by giving them to him they could be used without the unit.

It just seemed dodgy to me

BUT he won't do the sale without !!!

Re: Am i being conned? Smartnav sale

So anyone any idea if this is safe?
A friend recommended i ask here because i have no idea myself whether this guy can a) check the serials out b)not use them on other equipment thus rendering what i am selling useless!

any advice much welcomed!

Play it safe and give TrafficMaster a call.

Re: Am i being conned? Smartnav sale

do as slipperystevens suggests it sounds a bit dubious that he wants the codes first
