Ford Galaxy - where to mount

Hi Everyone
I have a Nuvi 360 and it's great.
Not so great is the mounting and where to mount. It's such an effort getting the rather poorly designed supplied mounting on the windscreen. Sadly the Nuvi has to be not so successfully propped up somewhere (which can cause dangerous driving) or held by a passennger. So I tend to give up using it.
I suppose it would have been OK on my first car - a Morris 8 with a vertical windscreen!
The Galaxy's screen slopes at about 60 degrees. Has anyone found any extra mounting kit or a place on the Galaxy to keep a Sat Nav in place securely?

Regards

Re: Ford Galaxy - where to mount

I've just googled your model to read :
Bluetooth wireless technology for hands-free calling ,
You could use a wide phone mount somewhere on the dash and use a bluetooth reciever stuck on the windscreen .Looks like a nice bit of kit , it can even answer your phone too !

Re: Ford Galaxy - where to mount

not sure about 360, but my 310 came with a dash mount disc. It stick to the dash like S#17 to a blanket, then you mount the suction cup to the disc.

make sur eyou get it in the right place (and very clen) first time, as it does not come off very easily.

if yours didn't come with one, I am sue you can get them somewhere.

HTH,

Pete

Re: Ford Galaxy - where to mount

Hi Pete

Thanks - I had forgotten about that disc. But no flat services in cars these days. However I'm happy as I put the mount on the drivers door window in line with the exterior mirror - great place for seeing & touching. Can't open the window without everything falling to the floor though but who needs to open windows!

Re: Ford Galaxy - where to mount

Don't know what kind of mount your satnav has but I have a Tomtom 300 in a Ford Galaxy. I fix the windscreen mount on that little triangular (non-opening) quarterlight the Galaxy has and angle it towards me. This keeps it out of the way of the heated part of the front windscreen (which doesn't run all the way tothe edge of the screen) so it has clear reception. Means you have to lean forward in your seat a bit to reach the touch screen, tho.

Re: Ford Galaxy - where to mount

Hi tiresias

Thanks. I was thinking about that Qtr light position but you need long arms! I have a Nuvi 360 & use the touch screen quite a lot. The answer is coming along soon - built in SatNavs as standard on all cars.
