Any Pocket PC phone (XDA/MDA etc..) with TomTom Navigator is the best way

Hi,
I am currently using an SDA II phone bundled with Co-pilot - works brilliantly! Its so small you can fit the whole kit into your pocket.
Best of all you can get it free if you take out a new contract! Take a look here

Another vote for Co-Pilot. I'm using mine on a SPV C500 and in my opinion as an ex-TomTom5 PDA user it is a far superior product. Runs faster, more intelligent detouring en-route, live traffic updates etc. Fab!

I've had a PocketPC with Navigon with TMC receiver....Had a Nokia 6680 with TomTom5 and now use a SDAII with Copilot.....I must admit that I prefer the routing algoritmes from Copilot over those from TomTom. The traffic information is also spot on and my wife likes tracking me via the Internet to see when I can get home (I've got a 200 mile commute at the moment...). Copilot seems to like small road shortcuts much better then TomTom5 which is great getting you around traffic jams....
Then again I would advice getting TomTom so you won't take the same shortcut I take But get stuck in the diversion that all TomTom users (a lot of them) are being guided on....

I use an XDA II as a phone, pocket PC & gps, using TomTom Navigator 3 - and with a bluetooth handsfree car kit in the car for the phone....
It all works just great. Is a bigger unit than an ordinary phone, but everything is in one device and the larger screen size is an big advantage.
Only weakness is a lack of inbuilt wifi, but later models of XDA come with that too. (I've got an SD wifi card I use, but need to take out my sd memory card to use that...)

A week ago I got an T-Mobile MDA Vario with Co-Pilot. A very good deal from Mobile Fun website (although they've just put the price up by £15 to what I paid ) http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/t-mobile/8520.htm
It works very well. Am extremely happy with it. The MDA Vario is the same as the XDA Mini S (also the HTC Wizard).
I would like to get a different voice for the navigation but I haven't searched around the web enough yet

I run Mobile Britain 2005 ROUTE 66 on a Nokia 6680 and I was impressed at first until I discovered some limitations. First off let me say I have never had any problems with directions. I travel around quite a lot to some real obscure places in Essex to play cricket and it found everywhere really easy, and gave me good routes. I also do a bit of travelling to other places in counrty for work and it has never got me lost (and I suppose that's the point of it) and got me everywhere I needed to get to. So if you want a basic route planner and direction giverer(er!?!) then I would reccommend it.
But if you want something that takes in to account traffic situations then don't bother, it never gets any traffic info from the GPRS thing (I've tried and tried to set it up properly but it may still be the way I am using it - but then it can't be very user friendly) so if you have any traffic on the way it won't recalculate the route. Also, there is absolutely no way of putting speed cameras on the map. When I bought it, I foolishly expected to be able to upgrade the map to include camera locations. Bit silly on my part.
Overall, if you just want a thing to tell you how to get somewhere then it's good (if not a little quiet through the 6680 even with all volumes turned up), but if you want it a bit more sophisticated then go for something else (assuming other mobile ones can give you the traffic/camera info that is).
That's it really,
Mat
PS - The support centre is based in Sweden or somewhere like that as well (I had to call them to get a new card after the one I got wasn't Dual Voltage which the phone needed)
PPS - If you want to buy mine then drop me a note as I can't use it on my new phone...
