Keith,

I personally own a TomTom Classic (that was the only model available at the time I bought it) and I can do nothing else than praise this device

The TomTom One your talking about has a faster processor and above all a better sattelite receiver then all other TomToms (and the Mio).
On the support side, their are numerous forums for TomTom where you can exchange ideas/questions.

If I was to buy a new device today: TomTom all the way !

I got the Tom Tom One a few weeks back and found it to be an excellent purchase.

EASy to set up, easy to use and once you add your own specific Points of Interest (POI) then it is invaluable.

Tom Tom For Me!

I purchased a Tom Tom Go 300 for GBP210.00 last week on ebay (brand new)

Some of the mapping is a little out of date in my area but on the whole so far worth every penny.

It worked straight out of the box and the additional features as mentioned before are brilliant.

Unfortunately the suction mount broke. I contacted Tom Tom UK and they have arranged a replacement to be sent no quibble. Contrary to what I have heard the after sales service could not be better.

Just bought a TomTom One yesterday, brilliant bit of kit, works straight out of the box and reception is very good (4 bars in top floor flat away from window).
I would recommend downloading the speed camera database and get an indoor charger and carry case.
Pocketgps.com has the database and also new poi alerts that tell you what speed camera it is and what speed you should be doing.

TomTom all the way m8

I have a Mio 268 with V2 maps just updated at Christmas. I travel all around the country and can't fault it! Just about to install the speed cameras POI will let you know what I think.

Neither, go for a Garmin Nuvi 300. Mio is cheap rubbish, tom tom are good, but the user interface on the Nuvi is so simple.

Alan Ashurst

Hi Keith,
Hope you didn't get the Mio. I have a 269. The maps were out of date when got it, Mio couldn't tell me when an upgrade was due. After just paying out £100+ for Version 2.0, found out that it would have been free had ordered the upgrade in November!!
