TomTom GO 700 V. Navman iCN550

I have been looking at both the Tom Tom GO 700 and Navman iCN550 Sat Nav. Wondering if anybody has any opinions on these?

I notice that Navman iCN550 has an Internal Battery, but the Tom Tom 700 does not. If the power to the Tom Tom is turned off do you have to reprogramme the destination?

I have also noticed the Road Angel which seem fairly similar to the other 2 models. Also, just received details about Indago Sat Nav - http://www.indagosatnav.co.uk/ - from Snooper.

I know these 3 units can detect safety cameras, but can any of them warn you if you are exceeding the speed limit. My concern is although the fixed cameras are covered, obviously they probably don't detect mobile cameras. I would be useful if the unit was able to warn you if you accidently exceed the speed limit.

All very confusing. When spending this sort of money you want to make sure you get the right model!!!

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I can't give an answer for the iCN550, however i have an iCN6xx and it will alert if you exceed the limit (user programmable though). I realise you are likely looking for a device which will alert automatically if you stray over the limit - i haven't seen one which does this however it's easily set manually.
For mobile cameras i use a Beltronics detector.

got the tom tom 700 off the missus for christmas and im chuffed to bits with it.

It has an internal hard drive that it saves all route data too etc so that when its off you dont lose a thing. I also downloaded the speed camera locations, and you can set i tup to warn you when you are approaching it. really handy. I have also noticed it can be set to tell you your speed but as for warning you when your over it I have no idea im affraid. the manual mentions nothing of this, but there again the manual miss's out quite a lot.

Tom Tom is the best software by miles, and I've tried other units. See the separate thread on the Speed Camera POI info database for Tom Tom units. The database not only contains fixed speed cameras, but warns of sites frequently used by the police for mobile cameras.
