JUst picked up an Orange branded i8910, and wasn;t very impressed to be honest.

Decided this morning to change to HX firmware, and the difference if huge. Incredible change, loads of free memory, faster UI (with transitions), includes loads of apps (OVI Maps anyone?). Overall a great improvement to some decent hardware.

All I need know is to find a cheap unlock solution, so that I can use my T-Mob SIM.

Can you share where you got that firmware from please? And what cable you used to do it. I think i will try doing mine because i think its the orange firmware thats causing the problems with my dodgy screen, considering the fact that it seems to work again when i turn it off and back on.

Using the standard USB cable and WIn XP PC. Just follow the instructions and choose your firmware How to flash HX custom roms : I8910 CUSTOM ROMS

I chose HX V4 MAIN and I'm happy with it ... tons of things to play with.

no more risk/scary than installing any other firmware.

Follow the instructions/make sure your battery is fully charged/don't mess with the cable and you'll be fine.

I've recently purchased an i8910 off eBay.

Getting it unlocked was a nightmare, a half hour job took 5 1/2 hours via a local so-called repair centre in a dodgy area of Nottingham.

Debranding was an extreme opposite-I tried Blast Communications in Mansfied Woodhouse (after finally getting through to Samsung who recommended them..!) who weren't cheap at £20 but had a decent tidy premesis, took plastic issued a receipt, phoned back when the work was completed, offered a guarantee and had a friendly and professional attitude..

It is shocking but the above factors are absent in all the other outlets of this type in Nottingham

So if you've got any unlocking/debranding issues you could do worse than give them a try.

On another note a debrand is definitly worth doing, my handset benefitted by being about 20% faster in operation , having the complete Samsung apps reinstated and an apparent increase in battery life.
