S3 Battery Life Issue

Battery life appears really poor. Having charged this to 100%, It's showing it's been on for For 6 hrs, and battery is at 88%. Checking the battery level brought it down from 90% when I woke it up.

Surely this suggests there is something wrong with my battery? At this rate, the phone would not come close to lasting a day without a charge on light use.

Power saving and auto brightness are on. Any ideas? If this is the way it works, then I'm afraid back it goes. That's much worse than my IPhone 4. Much worse.

I have a SD CARD in. Is that making a difference?

Leaving WiFi and Bluetooth on is the battery killer in my HTC.

Sorry I might have misread your post but battery down to 88% in 6 hours is good.

12% drain in 6 hours gives you about 50 hours total.. sounds pretty good to me.

Batteries normally get better after a few charges.

On standby, with the screen off and nothing happening?

Depends though - accounts still syncing in the background? A app still active despite the screen being off??

Lots can still be happening preventing the phone going into deep sleep.

Actually do think the firmware needs tweaking as Cell Standby time does seem high in battery settings?

Apart from that - battery life when phone is active is pretty much spot on - people reporting over 5 hours screen use on a charge which is stunning imo.

I'm seeing better battery life than any other Android I've had to with a couple of tweaks I'm sure everyone will be happy with it.

Just posted this in the S3 thread before I noticed this. My battery seems to be really good.

Quite impressive because 2 hours of the screen time was playing games. One of them was N.O.V.A 3.

Battery life still poor. Can't manage to get my email Exchange account to stop autosyncing. Have it set to manual but still pushes. Any ideas?

Also Cell standby is my biggest battery draw. This seems wrong.

Any ideas anyone?

Without cell standy you wouldn't receive txts, phone calls etc. I did a search on what Cell standby did and it's nothing to do with poor signal etc as some people have suggested on the internet.

I'm finding the battery to be very good so far.

I've went 2 days without a charge...

Yesterday after very heavy usage I still got 24 hours out of it. Was watching HD video, playing music, screen seemed to be constantly on etc.

Same issue

I have found that leaving my phone on the side (with apps closed, but wifi on) my S3 died within 22 hours.

I did check the phone a few times to see how battery was doing, but did no gaming/calling/texting/internet.

Today, i have made one call for under 4 minutes. A bit of internet and email. However Phone is at 58% after 10 hours of use (53% of use due to 'cell standby' - so around 30% of battery used by cell standby in 10 hours).

It's really disappointing battery life - I hoped mine had an issue that meant cell standby was gobbling too much juice. I hate to say it but my iPhone 4 had better batter life - and it cant be blamed on the amazing screen, it's the phone that's eating all the power!

I hope it is a known problem and Samsung/google can issue a fix...

Agree. My IPhone 4 killed the s3 for battery. It should not loose so much in standby.

Yeah, my battery was doing well but now it seems to be poor. I played a game for 23 minutes and it took up 23% of battery, which is shocking. As with most others, cell standby seems to be the main source of the power being sucked.

EDIT: Just played the same game again for half an hour and it only rinsed 8% of my battery. Weird.

Same issues here though not too concerned yet as still haven't got around to fine tuning the phone. Whereas i could get a good 2-2.5 days use from my iPhone 4 (checking e-mails, heavy texting, heavy music listening and light app use), it's starting to dawn on me that the same usage with the S3 will leave me expecting little over 24 hours use. At least I can comfort myself with the fact that if I do expect to be away from a power source for more than 24 hours, a spare battery can be packed.
