If the S3's thinner than the S2 it will be a case of style over substance which I'll find disappointing. The S2 feels much better with a slimline case (i use the official Samsung mesh case) otherwise it's not as comfortable to hold. I'm sure most people would prefer a bigger capacity battery at the expense of a slimmer phone.

Samsung Galaxy S3 set for shock March 30th UK launch? | T3

I hope this is true. My upgrade is due on the 7th April!

Although just cannot see it happening so early, especially seeing as no-one seems to have any details whatsoever!

It is possible (albeit not easy) to keep details secret... Apple have been doing it for years, with only their component manufacturers letting them down. Since Samsung will have a greater ability to keep this process internal, perhaps, just perhaps, they can get a product to market without leaks

Either way, I hope it's thinner than the 7-inches that article quotes.

I read this article earlier today and picked up on this. The fact that they say a "mere seven inches" made me laugh.

As regards to it's validity phones4U have said that it is the reopening date of that store after refurbishment.
Phones4U Samsung banner doesn't flag Galaxy S III launch ? reghardware

There's not a snowball's chance in hell the Phones4u event is related to the S3. Such a major release is not gonna be an exclusive to them, even for a few weeks. I laugh at the sites that think otherwise.

Remind me, who had the exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and then made a big deal of it at their Oxford St. flagship branch?

Turns out its just a refurbishment of the store in Oxford street for its own Samsung branded section

So we still wait for news of the s3. Cannot see it hitting the UK until late April to be honest.

I did notice that but the Nexus is not in the same league as the Galaxy S2 in terms of market penetration. It's a mainstream smartphone and a big seller-- probably Samsung's biggest-- so it's successor is very much anticipated. I'll eat my hat if it's the S3. No way Jose!

Aye, the s2 has garnered the cache and reputation that only Apple have managed to do with individual devices for years.

Can't see it being limited availability - it'll be a smash and grab between May-September as the s2 was.

Why would they reveal the pictures on the invitation and so far ahead of the launch when they've clearly made significant efforts to keep it under wraps? Samsung must be enjoying the publicity all of this is generating.

I think that pictures a fake, also. I mean.... The third I isn't as far away from the middle I than the first I was! (I actually do find this a little strange)

Just more rumours.. the OLED association has apparently outed the screen as a 4.6" 720p full dot matrix: OLED Association outs Galaxy S III screen: 4.6-inch Super AMOLED+ | Android Community

Some guy who is apparently in the know has hinted at a event in London on May 2nd : Eldar Murtazin tipping about May 2nd event in London … | Samsung Updates

Given the number of rumours some of them must be close right ? waiting for this to be released before I pick an upgrade...

May 3rd date seems offical..

Quote:
Samsung has an invitation sent out stating that the "next Galaxy smartphone" on May 3 is announced. About the successor to the S II is still remarkably little known.

The announcement event for the new Galaxy smartphone is scheduled for Thursday 3 May in London and falls under the term "Samsung Mobile Unpacked". Under that name had previously been the Nexus Galaxy, Galaxy S II and S announced Galaxy. The invitation shows no device, but only a few patches of color.

How long after the unveiling will it be released? My contact expires next month or June. I just sold my S2 to buy the HTC One X as I knew I would get £240 for it which is what I paid along with the S2

If this is the real deal then I am somewhat disappointed.

Did the Samsung Galaxy S III just appear in Vietnam? (video) (updated with statement) -- Engadget

Was expecting 1.8 quadacore and a 4.9 inch screeen.

Also just looks like a smaller Note.

I am liking the look of the OS though, looks more like the Nexus ICS than touchwiz which is a very good thing.

We shall have to wait and see.

Surely they wont be releasing two quadcore handsets?

With samsungs product line id not actually be surprised if the above wasnt the s3 but more a lower priced incremental update to the s2

There is also this: Samsung Galaxy S3 Test Model Caught In The Wild | ITProPortal.com

If it looks like either of these apparent leaks then I doubt I'll be buying it.

Edit: Apparently this has already been dismissed

Engadget have received a legal request to take the video down apparently. There is a subtitled version on youtube.

The phone wont look like either of these, its well known that Samsung have been sending out phones for testing/development in disguise - i.e. that is NOT what its going to look like - says as much in the article.

Its reckoned this is the galaxy m, a mid level phone and not the S3. I guess we'll find out in 10 days or so..

Why ?
The spec is maybe not as high as first thought (clock speed, RAM) and we haven't seen the final case design.. what puts you off?

It could be this thing is the S3, no-one really knows - its only the stuff I posted above makes me think otherwise but given all sources are far from official its anyones guess

Looks like the spec may be even higher than mentioned in that last report, see here: http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/20/a...y-s-iii-specs/

I just hope it's less plasticky than the SGS II or I won't be sold. Really want a quality feeling Android phone to make the switch from an iPhone and I'm hoping the SGS III is it!
