hoping someone can help..

my friends samsung galaxy ace has suddenly decided it wont switch on, battery died yesterday so she put it on charge and left it alone, went to it later pressed a button and display showed fully charged but phone will not switch on.. i know a week or two ago it developed a mind of its own as to if it wanted to charge or not.. wether or not the two are connected i dont know, but any help in trying to cure this appreciated
