samsung tocco ultra wont charge and turns off ?

just bought a samsung tocco ultra from ebay

was sold as brand new in box sealed unlocked.

got the phone saturday

the box is security sealed and everything is deffo brand new inside
buit the phone does have vodaphone stamped on the front (the guy who sold it said it was unlocked as it was won in a competition and came direct from samsung)
anyway onto the real point
i put the battery in and turned it on and nothing totaly dead
so i plugged the charger in and it showed it was charging or so i thought but it had a blue bar going across the bottem and when the bar gets to the right hand side it beeps, then the screen changes to a battery charging screen for a few seconds then reverts back to the blue bar loading screen which beeps when it gets to the right hand side.
the only way to turn it on is when it shows the charging screen it flashes up with the vodaphone logo then dies.
if i unplug it from the charger even after charging it for 8+ hours it will not do anything it is totaly dead,it will only flash up the vodaphone screen when plugged in.

so can i assume that the phone is faulty ? or do these phones take 24hrs to charge or something stupid like that ?
i think its deffo faulty

Re: samsung tocco ultra wont charge and turns off ?

You've obviously been sold a phone locked to Vodafone

Do you have documentation proof of origin? Because the phone is either faulty or has been blocked by Vodafone. For your sake I hope it is the former and the seller will help you out. If it is the latter then you should take the phone to the police and ask them if the phone has been blocked

Re: samsung tocco ultra wont charge and turns off ?

are you saying that if vodaphone block a phone it stops it from turning on ?
if that is the case then maybe that is the problem
the guy has said he will give me a full refund but now i am worried that he might not if i send the phone back

Re: samsung tocco ultra wont charge and turns off ?

If the phone is locked to Vodafone that has nothing to do with the battery or whether it will work. It should still be fine. It will merely ask you to insert a sim but will still be able to make emergency calls as required by law

One possibility is that the phone is faulty if it is not charging. The only other instance I have encountered is because a nameless person purchased a phone from a too good to be true source and it turned out the entire batch had been blocked. Draw from that the obvious

If it helps I am having the same problem as of today... I've had my phone for 6 months and it's worked fine. Now when I plug it in to charge I get exactly the same issue as described above. Did you find out what the problem was?
