downloaded game to phone

i have a tocco and have just downloaded the game super jewel quest but when i try to load it it says i have to make a connection. as it is a game why do i have to connect to wap all the time to play it and also am i gonna be charged for playing it?? it does say this is always free in the uk but i thought you only got so much free and then paid for the rest
