Samsung Pixon 12 Thread

Seeing as I haven't seen one already, i thought i'd start my own.
I have only just bought the Pixon 12, so haven't really tested everything out yet, but so far so good.

I've managed to sync my e-mail, contacts and calender from my work using MS exchange.
I've set up my Hotmail account.
I've found a Sat Nav, that seems to work, but i have yet to test it properly, mainly because i only installed it this evening, and i have yet to find a proper in car holder.

But so far so good.

It was an upgrade from the Samsung Omnia (original), and the tough screen and speed are loads better.

Aside from all the positives, there is still something missing for me that i can't quite put my finger on.... Maybe its because i originally wanted the Samsung Luvre, with a slide out qwerty keyboard... but chose not to wait because it only had a 5mp camera...

Time will tell if this is the right phone... but all seems good so far.

Although i would like some more apps/games for it...

what does evryone else think of this phone??

Re: Samsung Pixon 12 Thread

am i the only one with a Pixon 12 then?? I'm startig to have a few doubts sbout it now - i only hope that i can take it back and just pay for what i've used... Its a great phone, but its not too much of an upgrade to my Omnia. Obviously the camera is better... but apart from that, and a more sensitive touch screen, i have to say, i prefer my Omnia!!

Surely someone has a Pixon 12 here that can share experiences??

I have owned the pixon12 for a few months now and i have to say i am quite disappointed. It is a great camera, ok, a bit too slow, but surely the best in a phone so far. All the rest is very basic, and not quite mature enough. No interesting application what so ever and the pre-installed Navigation soft is really useless (keep displaying an error, and can't seem to connect the agps properly).

Ok so i bought my samsung pixon 12 today and so far i am very happy with it....i previously had an omnia...i still have that ...and i really hated windows mobile...but the web browser was simply brilliant and i use the internet a lot on my phone and it had other windows related problems like not enough memory when i have 8gb free etc lol.

now after transferring all my things over to my pixon 12 and giving it a full test out like i do....i like my gadgets...i think the camera is exceptional...video is very good...and so is music etc etc.....but the INTERNET BROWSER IS UTTER CRAP and i am going mental....so anyone who has this phone please help me because it even crossed my mind to sell it just because of the browser lol......i cant zoom in sometimes on my omnia i just would double tap and it would zoom in and resize everything on the screen so you dont have to scroll sideways....this phone doesnt do that...and i can edit the damn homepage i have been into the settings and i cant edit the homepage url that vodafone have set to samsung uk ....any ideas on how to do this? create a new profile with all the same things and just change the url?......and another thing on my old phone i could press a link and open it in a new tab instead of the original page....

for example after searchin in google and your search results come up...i could open a few of them in new tabs and stay on the original search page.....with this i cant open a new tab with the link....it just takes me to the website ....i like to always have one page of my email account open...and one of a forum...and the others free......so please tell me if there is a way of doing this

also can you change the browser or not? i had opera and it was amazing....but really this browser is driving me crazy i use the internet a lot on the phone and i really need something that will work and suit my needs....

any tips guys please feel free to help me and likewise if you need any questions answering from the phone i will help

Ok, yes, the browser is very annoying indeed. It actually does multi-window, this needs to be setup in the preferences, but yes it does not work very well.
Once thing to know about this browser; to select something, you need to click on it twice. But not as a double click. The first selection will highlight the path or word, then once it is highlighted, click once more to valid your selection (at about 1 or 2 sec interval).
The zoom function works ok. You need to place your finger in the middle of the screen for about 2 or 3 sec., this will then automatically zoom in if you don't move your finger. At this point you can move your finger up (zoom in) or down (zoom out). It takes a bit of used to, not too bad once you get the hang of it.
Opera can be installed, i have done it with no problem. But the interface is not good. It comes with some additional controls which takes part of the screen, hence further reducing the usefull browsing window. But i have not used it that much, perhpas this can be worked around.

Like i previously wrote, i managed to install Nav4All but i find the interface not really good (basic arrows, unfriendly graphics). I have read Amaze is a lot better. The phone download it fine, but freeze when trying to start the app, so would anybody have a go and let me know if they have more luck?

yea it does do multiwindow but i cant open a link on a current window to a different window like i could on my omnia....but im getting hang of the browser now so i might be able to live with it but one thing also how do you delete word entries from the dictionary of t9 predictive.....ive accidently added one and it comes up alot......and also when setting something as a wallpaper how do you make it bigger.....for example i have a logo on a black background....on my cousins pixon 8 it is larger....and on mine i cant seem to zoom it in to enlarge it....it appears very small on the wallpaper and as the actual picture when viewing it.....any ideas?

hi a colleague of mine has this phone but cannot access the keypad when in call, ie to select an option when phoning automated services, it is as if the phone has a setting which disables the touch screen when in call to prevent accidentally selecting when against ear, does anyone know how to overcome this, thanks.

They need to press & hold the lock button on the left side of the phone, it says to do this on screen when in a call :/
