I've hit a brick wall with this one and it's starting to get expensive going down the "trial and error" route!

I'm looking for a compact little usb charger that'll plug into the mains and will charge up all the little toys I normally charge through my netbook. I'm going travelling and don't want to be leaving my netbook out ever time I need to charge something.

There's not a problem finding one that'll charge my ipod classic and power my little usb powered battery charger (great little tool for travelling) but so far nothing will charge my mobile (samsung U600) which powers-up fine through my pc when I used the standard Samsung data cable.

If no-one has any first hand experience of this can you recommend somewhere else for me to inquire please?

I have a Ted Baker USB charger, which is actually a Proporta battery rebranded. It comes with all sorts of tips, including Samsung and mini USB.

I can get two full charges of my iPhone out of it, even from totally flat.

Have you thought of getting a USB to mains converter?
I use it to charge my ipod, my creative zen and my samsung omnia and it works really well!
Haven't managed to try it with anything else I'm afraid....

But they do sell for like 1/2 pound on ebay.... worth a pop surely?

Yeah, those are what I've been buying, 2 so far but neither works. It's been mentioned that perhaps the phone will only charge through a computer with the correct software on it, so the driver fires it up. But I've managed to charge it through my girlfriends laptop and that has none of the samsung software...
