Samsung U600 Help

Having studied the manual for my phone I'm no further forward. All I want to do is change the colour of the date that appears on the screen. It is currently orange and almost impossible to see. Day and month appear in black yet the date is orange, don't know why.
Suggestions on how to change it please.
