just checked my Monsters Inc region 2 2-disc and the THX audio tests are nothing more than white noise tones, does the region 1 have more advanced tests?

that covers most of the audio test. it does a frequency sweep from high to low to make sure there is no gap in the cross over between your speakers and sub. and then there are the video tests as well. same on region 1 as region 2 as far as i can see.

should be the last test on the audio test section. it tells you to turn your sound down as the sweep to the sub can be quite loud. although i have region 1 monsters inc. my t2 is region 2 and has the same thx optimiser

it must just be on certain THX-certified discs rather than all of them cos it's definitely not there, the only audio test is the white noise.

Have you tried the THX optimiser on that disc?
I would assume they'd put the same version on both so that should have it.

It's under Language options on Disc 1.

Castaway R1 and Pearl Harbor R2 have the THX optimiser on.

Just to add, the test tones are not really for setting the speaker levels, they are there just as a check to make sure the speakers have been sited in the right position. It does say this on the introduction before the test.

Have done a comparison between Test Disc, THX Optimiser, the one found on dvds as an extra and amps internal test tones. The internal test tones and the test disc are very much alike, but the levels on THX Optimiser found on dvds as extras were all over the place, some channels were out by 1db others were 3db out, but the bass was way off. I would use the amps test tones rather than those found on the dvds as I feel the ones on the dvds like Castaway and Pearl Harbor are not accurate enough IMO.

"The Evil Dead" has the frequency sweep on it. Only about £8 in the MVC sale I think.
