Computer Vibration

I know slightly off topic with it being a PC, but I'm interested in how to deaden the vibration.

The case in an Antec Sonata, so all parts are fitted with rubber bungs and it also has rubber feet and is placed on a door mat folded in half.

But because it's in the loft/attic, the sound is still coming through, from what sounds like the hard drives humming.

What else could I try?

Yeah, shouldn't be a problem, as I've quite a few spare outside (just had a patio done).

Sorry to sound stupid/ignorant, but how would a slab help with vibration? Surely it'll just pass straight through it as it's solid?

Re: Computer Vibration

I've wedged a couple of bits of MoPAD under mine - http://www.auralex.com/sound_isolati...tion_mopad.asp

Fairly pricey for what they are (I had some spare anyways) but they do a great job of reducing the vibrations from the HDD. Mine went from an annoying hum changing in pitch depending on where your head was to being completely silent with the MoPAD's

Matty - do you sell these or would your sub platform do the job as it looks like a similar thing stuck under that - Anti-Vibration and Speaker Isolation Products

Re: Computer Vibration

I've just found a spare rubber mat aswell, one of those ones with bristles on one side and thick rubber on the other.

Could I put the PC on the slab, then the slab on top of the rubber mat? Kinda a double layered approach?

Re: Computer Vibration

Sounds like you need to suspend (hang) the HDDs inside the case. Google it, and look at the SilentPC website...
