Question LCD screen calibration/optimiser

anyone know of a screen optimiser on DVD disc.

recently read somewhere about a DVD disc you put on and you can follow the on screen prompts and calibrate your screen

i already own an Allsop DVD disc cleaner but there not a function to set up the screen on it

cheers

Re: LCD screen calibration/optimiser

there is a disc called digital video essentials, which does an in depth calibration
process.

also as i read posted on another thread if you have a THX endorsed dvd like star wars etc, that also has a calibration part on the dvd somewhere

hope this help

i did try the DVE disc once, and i have to say its good but with all the kids running about and wife moaning i did not really have time to adjust it as i would
have liked, if you are going to use this disc set aside an hour or so, with no interruptions ha ha

Re: LCD screen calibration/optimiser

IMHO the reality with all the test disk is: Without the proper equipment it is very difficult to get to the right settings.
You can do contrast and basic color settings but as soon as you want to go for 65k calibration for real colors you need the proper gear and software. This is much more expensive than asking a professional.

I know some people say they did it without the equipment but I am sure it takes you forever.

Re: LCD screen calibration/optimiser

yes, without instruments, you can do basic settings only, anyway those settings are very important to avoid waste of performance.

You could try a free TestDVD from this link:

www.merifon.3000.it

It's home brew but it works, motion and still tests are included.
