Sound deadening material for noisy Xbox
I've got a pretty noisy Xbox that you can hear whizzing from the other room.
Just wondered whether placing it on some sort of sound deadening material might make it quieter? if so, any idea what I should be looking to buy?

Re: Sound deadening material for noisy Xbox
be wary of smothering it, it will overheat. We sometimes provide melamine foam pads for plasmas, so perhaps something like that might take some of the whine away...

Re: Sound deadening material for noisy Xbox
Thanks. I was looking for something to go under the Xbox. I'll have a look at the pads.

Re: Sound deadening material for noisy Xbox
Assuming you are talking Xbox1 and not 360 , there are some tutorials over at xbox-scene for quietening an xbox . Most of them involve opening it up though , if you have'nt already

Sorry I didn't make myself clear, it's an Xbox360. It's still under warranty so i would not want to open it at this stage.

Thanks for the reply. So I've just got to live with the noise. Not fair really as my first Xbox was virtually silent but, without exaggeration, this replacement can be heard from the next room. Performs faultlessly though so maybe I shouldn't complain.

Re: Sound deadening material for noisy Xbox
The noisiest thing on the xbox 360 is the dvd drive, the fans are not nearly as loud. Some versions are louder than others & the later models use a different quieter drive. This link shows you how to identify which drive you have:
