Carpet Tiles - Worth It?

hey all.
Just hoping to get some opinions on wether or not it would be worth putting carpet tiles on my walls.

The effect i am trying to acheive is sound proofing (for people outside of my room), and stopping internal reflections of sound.

My room is an 8'7" x 8'7" box in an L shape due to a built in cupboard at the top of the stairs.

I already have my sub on a paving slab, and that worked wonders. Im also going to be putting a rug down at some point.

Whaddya think? ta

Re: Carpet Tiles - Worth It?

one of the best and easiest and cheapest methods is egg boxes. They are lightweight, unlike carpet tiles which weigh a ton and are really affective at soundproofing a room.

you can pick empty trays that hold 24 eggs from any local farm etc that sells eggs.

Let me know how it goes

im sorry but thats just wrong.

Eggboxes might give a small amount of diffusion and marginal acoustic benefit(i did have a link to the co-efficients of eggboxes)but will not soundproof at all, nor will carpet tiles. you need to add mass to a wall to get any degree of soundproofing. the best selling soundproofing products are heavey, dense materials, such as MLV, GreenGlue or Soundblock plasterboard

People confuse soundproofing with acoustic treatment, but they are 2 seperate things.
