Radioshack SPL meter, Room EQ Wizard and a laptop
I've tried various ways of calibrating and measuring my speakers over the years.
Usually I use the built-in software of the AX5i to do the acoustic calibration and use an SPL meter to set the levels manually.
Similarly when doing a frequency response plot I use the SPL meter, paper and pencil and a series of test tones downloaded from the web.
I notice though that the Radioshack SPL meter has an audio output port on the side and wondered if it would be possible to hook this up to a laptop to enable measurements to be automatically recorded?
I've downloaded a copy of Room EQ Wizard and that seems like it might do the job.
Then I could just play back tones from a CD, or possibly from the laptop hooked up to the amp and let the meter and laptop do their stuff.
I would expect it to be a lot quicker and more accurate then me reading off the meter and jotting down the figures.
Has anyone tried this?
