Digital Video Essentials HD (HD DVD) Query

I've come across a Digital Video Essentials HD (HD DVD) that is scheduled for release in about three weeks time. Information can be found here http://www.play.com/DVD/HD%20DVD/4-/...D/Product.html

Below is extracts regarding this release.

Special Features
Dual Format - Plays on HD DVD and Standard DVD players

Review
Originally created in High Definition, Digital Video Essentials High Definition on HD-DVD is now brought to you in both 1080p and 720p, along with the original Standard DVD version. As audiences move to High Definition home theaters, it becomes increasingly important to have the tools and demonstration materials needed to optimise the quality and capability of the display. Developed by A/V legend Joe Kane, Digital Video Essentials HD offers an entire range of audio and video test signals for the all-important tune-up. These test tracks can make the difference between an artificial-looking picture and the amazing picture quality only found on HD-DVD.

Technical Details
Certificate Exempt from Classification
Screen 16:9
Languages Dolby Digital (5.1)
Duration 1 hour (approx)

The question I have is simply the original Standard DVD version (as noted above) is it the same as this http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/12181...s/Product.html

Please note that I don't have a means to play HD stuff, other than through my computer onto my HD Ready TV. I also reside in UK PAL land and was wondering which DVE disc(s) would be the best for fine-tuning my HDTV?

TIA

EDIT: Nevermind, they adjusted the date already, faulty release input

Not better, just optimised for HD feeds as opposed to SD feeds. It looks like it includes both formats.

Re: Digital Video Essentials HD (HD DVD) Query

I've had it on order for several weeks from Amazon and already have the original PAL DVE bought from this very forum in a powerbuy a while ago! after seeing how cheap it is I just thought what the hell.

I have an xbox360 HD DVD drive so I'll use it with that, my main hope (other than enhanced HD calibration) is that they have sorted the menu system as that really let down the original DVE.

Re: Digital Video Essentials HD (HD DVD) Query

I've had it on order since date it went live. I beleive its just the DVD content in HD format. I already have the NTSC and PAL professional and WMV 1080p/720p VERSIONS...so thought I ought to add this to complete the set....
