DVE On Multiple Inputs

My 507 is approaching the 200hrs ish mark. Decided that I would try using my DVE to fine tune a little.

My inputs are as follows:

INPUT1 - Samsung DCB-B260Z (Generic SCART, Local Cable TV Service - http://www.comhem.se/downloads/instr...msungcb260.pdf)
INPUT2 - Pioneer DVR-520H (Via Profigold RGB SCART PGV7000, http://www.service.pioneer-eur.com/p...DVR-520H-S.pdf)
507XD Analogue Tuner (http://www.service.pioneer-eur.com/p..._PDP-507XD.pdf)

I have all these inputs set to exactly the same run-in settings, and I have noticed that INPUT1 is much brighter than the TV, which in turn is much brighter than via my DVR Tuner...

I cannot find any settings to change in the cable box, and the DVR setting are not so great / adjustable...

My questions is, if I use DVE to calibrate the screen (Obviously via INPUT 2), then I use these settings and apply them to my other sources they won't be the same - How can I ensure all sources are calibrated to the same 'visual configuration'?...

Also, according to both pioneer manuals, I must use INPUT2 for DVR, but this is not RGB In enabled, and the DVR is currently outputing via RGB. Should I change to INPUT3 (RGB In), is there any problem with doing this?

*Is SCART to Component Lead any better?*

Cheers all,

miceri

Re: DVE On Multiple Inputs

After a bit more reading, I realise that it is mainly to use the DVE settings as close as possible on the other inputs, with a little adjustment by eye for differences.

Otherwise, it would be a full blown ISF calibration, with signal generators and the like!

I'll just settle for pretty good via DVD/DVE for now and wait for calibration when I move house / buy new DVD and AV Amp within the next 12-18months. No point in doing that now, never know - might add a VP at that point too...

Re: DVE On Multiple Inputs

Kinda depressing when you have to answer you own posts.
