Another speaker placement question

I am after some advice for the two layouts below. The first one is my preference as this would be close to an ideal layout for the sound, but it fails on the GF factor. The second option is more GF friendly bt i am unsure how it would sound.
Option two is a comprimise but is it going to be a real problem with the audio placing of the front speakers. The rears are bipoles so sound be fine at the back.

Option 1 although not perfect, option 2 won't work well.

Re: Another speaker placement question

Taking aesthetics into account I would go option 2 but move the left front to next to the TV and bring the left rear to the end of the sofa (near to where the left front is now).

At least that way you get all front channels across the same plane as the TV.

You will need a fair bit of tweaking with on the amp though to make it sound good!

Re: Another speaker placement question

I'd bin the TV and stick a plasma above the fireplace

Re: Another speaker placement question

That would indeed be an option and soemthing that i will work on. When i mentioned this in joking to the GF she seemed quite excited at the idea, mind you then the issue of where to put the centre speaker....

Re: Another speaker placement question

On the mantle, or wall mounted just under the screen.

If the fireplace is dormant put all the kit and the centre speaker inside it. Looks amazing when done correctly

Re: Another speaker placement question

Had a bit more of a play, Sketchup is really rather good for this

Moved the left speaker next to the TV so i at least have a front stage. Will have to see what sort of tweaking i can do on the amp though to balance it out.

I wonder if there is left overs in the deocrating budget for the LCD on the mantle opion
