I'm about to move house shortly and I have the luxury of a relatively blank canvas to work with, and I'm working on an AV layout already

The house is a semi detached with a (narrowish) through lounge. I dont want to place speakers and TV against the window, so I'm looking at TV / Speakers one side and seating on the other. My kit is Marantz AV amp, Rotel Hi-Fi amp, Castle Trent bookshelf main speakers (switched between amps), an Eltax 12" active subwoofer, Eltax wedge shaped bipolar rear speakers, a Mission 905c front centre and Eltax cheap rear centre (yes, I shopped at Richer Sounds

)
In order to least annoy the neighbours, do I :
Place the TV & speakers with their backs to the party wall, facing back towards my side?
Or place the TV & Speakers with the backs to the hallway wall, facing towards the party wall? Plus if I have the speakers facing the party wall, I can mount them on wall backets (Castle Trent bookshelf speakers BTW) and gain some floor space.
Will having ten feet of clear air and a couple of sofa's between the speakers and the party will reduce bass transmission to the neighbours, or will the fact the speakers are pointing that way cancel it out?
