Calibration help

Hi

I have just bought a HD DVD and wish to get the best pic and come across threads about calibration (taken me all that time to find out about calibration )

I have read thought the threads on calibration

I have a Plasma 43"

I came across products like sypderTV anygood? Also the Calman software

Would be greatfull of help on what would be best software and hardware with out breaking the bank..

Calman with a spyder2 sensor and a suitable test disc would be the one to go for.

Depending on which spyder package you buy it will have test discs of some description but calman assumes you have either Avia , DVE pro or Getgray.

there is a pattern generator stage built into calman but its still beta I belive and probably only useful if you are calibrating an HTPC. The getgray discs are probably the best option for you if you don't have any of the others.

If this is your first bash at calibration I'd recommend you grab a copy of the domestic version of DVE and use that for the time being before you move into calibrating grayscale with a spyder. Its not rocket science but you'll find it necessary to be familiar with certain concepts and terminology.
