Yes in an ideal world....

You are correct that it's likely each source will have variations in it's output so in your situation it wouldn't be possible to get them all perfect. Hopefully they'd be close though so it wont look too shabby.

Thanks for the answers guys.
I still don't know where to buy them, how much would they cost, and what is the average fee for a professional calibration vs. this disks.

It would also help if users post the way they access the Service menu in various screens (maybe a sticky thread: Service Menu Access). Anyone know how to enter the service menu on the Xelos SL32? I know it's been asked before, but not answered yet. Maybe a PM to me from the IFS guys .

How many people calibrated their screen using the DIY route, what was the result, and how many of you opted for the pro. calibration. If you have taken pro. calibration after the DIY route, was it worth it? Did it make much difference?

I'm just trying to figure out what the best route is.
Anyone with prices and links?

Service menu's are best left to those who know what they are doing. It's pretty simple to trash your display if you don't. I'd guess its about 10 times the cost of a disc for a calibration. You can go to the powerbuy section of this forum to see how much discs are and you can click on the banners in teh advertisors section to get to HCE and my own website for pricing or contact emails to get pricing.

Just to throw in my £0.02...

...I've seen the results of a couple of Gordons calibrations and - personally - I wouldn't now waste my time piddling about with Avia or Video Essentials.

Maybe I'm just getting old but I'd far rather get Gordon (or someone else who's qualified but I know Gordons standard of work) in to do the job right. In fact I only mentioned to him the other day in an email that if he was down my neck of the woods (we live at opposite ends of the country) then I would like him to set up my new LCD.

Thanks Gordon.
I will get the DVE disk to play with, but once I get the Pioneer Plasma screen, I will contact you regarding a calibration for both screens at the same time. I'm in Newcastle upon Tyne if the location makes a difference.
