MA RS8s and Carpet!

Hey,

My MA RS8s are due to arrive soon and will be going in my room which is carpeted.

A friend said due to that a lot of bass is lost as it travels across the carpet so I am wondering how I will combat this? I think they do come with spikes and I guess I'll use them if I have to but it's going to make some pretty heavy marks and will it combat the carpet issue?

All advice appreciated.

Re: MA RS8s and Carpet!

hello

the bass isnt lost as it travels across the carpet, its lost because the sub is moving when in use, rather than just the cone moving. If you put the speaker on a heavy slab, or spikes, then the unit doesnt move on the loose surface and so works as its designed to. Isolating speakers and subs is a tried and tested studio tool, going back way further than a certain foam company making little speaker stands.

Ah I see, so you recommend I use the spikes then?
