Any way to minimize the bass (from other properties) in my living room?

Hi, we've been living in a new build house for a year now and will be looking to finally get the living room set up properly.

While doing this I would like to take steps to reduce the amount of bass that can be heard in the room from external sources (neighbours not directly attached to our house)

The main reason I think the bass can be heard / felt so much in the room is because it is above our car port - the house looks like this

Has anyone got any suggestions of ways to try and reduce the amount of bass in this room?
Would better underlay help, or lifting floorboards and putting insulation in?

Any advice appreciated

i have this problem too....i live in a block of flats.

i find that moving the sub away from the walls (if your sub is in a corner) stop a lot of the vibrations.

what speakers are you using?

maybe use spikes?

The problem is not from the sound within the room, it is the sound created by other people outside of my property, I can hear their bass thump.

you need to pinpoint the source of entry, if its definately the floor then you need to determine the cheaper option, the garage ceiling, or the room floor, or a combination of both?

I can only think that its the floor as the noise can only be heard in that room, anywhere else in the house any bass is reduced drastically, even in rooms closer to where the sound is coming from
(We are attached to a property on the side with the car port / living room but not on the other side of the house).

there are a few good flooring brands, reduc and isomass being the 2 that spring to mind, though there are many others. Its all tongue and groove flooring but in big pieces, though do spend a bit more on it as the cheaper stuff is a bit crap..
