My calibration results - How do they look?

Following on from the excellent AVF calibration workshop I've attached the results of my attempt at calibrating movie mode on my LX6090. What do you reckon, any good?

Looks good to me Stuart Looks like attending the workshop is going to save you quite a bit of cash in the long run I do all my own calibrations now as well as i enjoy doing it and it gives you the sense that you've acheived something good when you do your own display in particular I'll also be calibrating my new JVC HD750 in the next couple of weeks so looking forward to getting the most accurate image out of it in my batcave I also use the i1 pro and calman software and think they give really great results for the money

Nicely done! But tell me, what about the luminance there? I cannot remember how to work with it and how it should be.

I will post my results soon as I can. Busy! Would be interesting to see how others fared with their setups.

Re: My calibration results - How do they look?

Guys,

I nearly missed this one!

Stuart goes straight to the top of the class with those results! Are you syre you didn't enter the results by hand

The important question of course is, how does the picture look now compared with the settings you had before which you felt were already good?

Did you enjoy working with CalMAN?

Good stuff

Re: My calibration results - How do they look?

Cheers for the words of reassurance guys

The improvements from my previous settings are noticeable, now giving me a much more natural picture but also with more punch, so to speak.

I've gone a step further since this and bought ControlCAL to activate and calibrate the ISF presets and I've achieved an even better picture, with similar accuracy as the above movie mode but with more headroom to push the peak white higher without clipping, giving me much greater impact.

I love working with CalMan and this calibration business is really quite addictive

Re: My calibration results - How do they look?

Picked up my DPG-1000 today. Im curious how the results will differ on 30-100IRE greyscale between getgray, hd basics and the generator. Im not sure what disc will provide the correct patterns based on the correct colourspace rec709 that I will mostly use my emp-tw2000 for.

Is that controlcal only compatible with pioneers or have I not done my homework properly? Hope I can post you some results soon. I can atleast say that im impressed with the performance of my PJ. I popped between the out-of-box setting and the calibrated on different scenes during the dark knight and in comparison the old setting look way to cold in medium to bright areas such as skin and creamcoloured walls. I guess you could say that the colours look washed out.

One thing that seems odd is that my gamma curve was abit above the target curve. I just manually tried adjusting the gamma on the PJ and set it to 2.4 and about then it got spot on but the picture seems abit to dark in darker areas. I think I have done something wrong.
