I have done a stupid thing

I have just realised that I have screwed wooden studs into the wall the wrong way round for resilient bars ie I have put them horizontally on the wall rather than vertically.
Can I screw the resilient bars into them as they are or should I screw more wooden battens onto them? Or can I hang the resilient bars vertically?
Can I use neoprene tape between the resilient bars and the studs?

bars must run verticle, definately use tape under them, but im not sure about attaching them to the verticle batts...that does seem a bit wrong...
