SNES vs HDTV, PC Solution?

All-

Since going to my new Onkyo Receiver and going all HD, I've encountered a horrible problem. The video signal coming from my SNES gets completely and utterly garbled by both the TV and receiver. I get flawless sound, but sporratic video at best.

Investigation (and help from other forumites here) have revealed that this is a flaw in new technology and how it handles resolutions lower than 480p. I'm investigating ways to correct the problem through Onkyo or converters. However, it occured to me that I might be able to bypass the receiver trying to decode the video by putting a video-input card into the PC I have attached to my receiver.

My plan is to get this card:
Newegg.com - KWORLD PlusTV HD PCI 120 ATSC 120 PCI Interface - TV Tuners & Video Devices

Plug it into my Meda-Center machine that is attached to my Receiver (and passes video properly), then use it to just full-screen the console as if I was "watching TV" on that PC.

Has anyone done this as a workaround? How about just hooking a console up to a PC for the purpose of recording the video directly? I have a bunch of emulators on the PC and could go that route, but there just is no substitution for the real thing sometimes.

Interested in hearing feedback.
